The sister gave me a cool idea to highlight one post of each month of my 21st year. Check it out…
April 17th: Twenty First
“It was exactly 17 years ago to this day, when I woke up not excited for my 4th birthday, but the birth
of my little brother! Yes, my brother Clay and I have the same birthday! I always joke that he is my twin who came out four years too late! I don’t know how my parents did it, but I think it is kind of special that we share this day. So Happy Birthday Clay…”
May 19th: Love Cakes
“What is the first thing I do at 5 am when I wake up? EAT. The sun hasn’t even risen and I’m stuffing my face with a giant bowl of overnight oatbran. I’ve pretty much given up on taking photographs of my breakfast due to the early morning poor lighting. Like today for instance: I attempted to take a picture of my overnight oats and just couldn’t find the correct setting to make my breakfast look appealing…”
June 14th: Big News X 3 [Bird Food Balls]
“Happy day before hump day! Before I share my big news, I wanted to start off with a delicious recipe. I made some awesomely addicting protein balls for a pre-triathlon snack. These guys feature my new biff MILLET PUFFS! [have you seen my newest vlog yet?] Look how cute they are…”
July 14th: Coming Out of the Closet
“I’m gluten free. *surprise*
I may have mentioned this once or twice before, but it’s surprisingly come up multiple times in the past few days. I’ve also received a few comments/emails in the past asking if I was gf. Well- I am, I don’t choose to eat gluten, but I also won’t pass up a good cookie I don’t like sharing with people that I am gf because I don’t want to make my choice an inconvenience or a big deal. Most menus have gluten free options, even if they aren’t labeled and because I do most of my own cooking, I am able to gage what is in my food…”
August 27th: Sober Dragonfly
“Today was an interesting day. It involved a lot of sleeping; something I am normally terrible at. I stepped a little bit outside of my realm last night and stayed out until almost bar close! Remember when I posed about my drinking anxiety a few months ago? Well- I am pretty comfortable with my sober self at the bars now. I just tell people that I like my h20 on the rocks
I have realized a few things about being a social butterfly sober dragonfly at the bars:
September 12th: Farmer’s Market a la Smartphone
“Another weekend, another trip to the Farmer’s Market! Have you started going yet? This week at the market there were lots of summer squash, tomatoes, and green beans. It’s so difficult for me to choose what to buy because everything looks so good!..”
October 1st: Anytime Fitness Conference [Washington D.C.]
“I’m home, I’m home, and ready to blog! Not going to lie, I wish I could have spent a few more days in DC. I feel like I zoomed through all of the touristy sights and missed out on some much needed museum time. I am going to try and tell you about my weekend in a semi-organized/confusing manor…”
November 24th: Pomegranate Baked Oatmeal
“Man is it good to be home. I don’t realize how much I miss this place until I’m actually back. I arrived home in New Berlin yesterday afternoon and spent most of my day catching up with the Parents and brother. We went out for a family dinner, in celebration of Selina’s (our foreign exchange student from Switzerland..you will meet her in a later post) 16th birthday! Afterwards, the sis and I went bar hopping. Me…bar hopping, I know right! In my town it has become a tradition that the night before Thanksgiving, all high school graduates meet at Lee’s Pub. Come on now. Wisconsin = Beer. Plus, the Pub we went to has the most beautiful name I have ever heard It was so great to see everyone. I was surprised at how good everyone looked and seemed.
Anyways…moving on to more important matter. Breakfast….”
December 28th: Hello from the UP: Day 1
“I absolutely love the UP. The vibe. The people. The culture. Remember last year? Every year my family heads on up to Michigan for our annual ski trip. Here are a few photos from day 1. Last night we settled in and then headed to Lake Superior for a hike!…”
January 9th: Pistachio Cherry Granola
“Not going to lie, dehydrating fruit can be a tad bit labor intensive. De-pitting a boat load of cherries is not as easy as it looks. But…well. worth. the elbow grease.
For this batch of dehydrated fruit I literally just sliced, pitted, and dried. I did’t even dip them in lemon juice or add any additional sweetener. The color held and the flavor turned out as sweet as can be! Who needs store bought dried fruit? “Not I,” said the pig. <----Little Red Hen reference anyone?..."
February 29th: Black Bean Quinoa Veggie Burgers
“What I really like about this recipe is that it matches the color scheme of Fit Foodie Finds. I totally planned that…”
March 15th: I Love Vail and Then Some
“I seriously have been dying to show you guys these pictures from the rest of my trip in Colorado. Number 1: I love Vail. Number 2: I love Vail.
The gang and I left for the slopes at 7AM and arrived in just under 2 hours. Vail Village was one of the most surreal places I have ever been to. I felt like I was in a movie. Not to mention, it was in the lower 50′s hence my light ski apparel…”
“I wanted to start this post off by giving mucho credito to the wonderful Iowa Girl Eats for being my inspiration for this recipe. Kristin posted a Copy Cat Trader Joe’s Chili Lime Chicken Burger recipe earlier this week and I was pretty much sold based off of her photos. I had plans to use her exact recipe, however I did my shopping at TJ’s and I couldn’t find ground chicken and decided to go with ground turkey instead. I also completely forgot to add the lime! Hence: Cilantro Chili Turkey Burgers….”
Cheers to another good year!
