It has been a whirlwind couple of weeks for Team Fit Foodie! I have been traveling like a crazy person, I was on my first LIVE TV segment (more info on this tomorrow), we’ve been working on some fun new projects, and the #SummerSweatSeries is in full swing! Ba-da-bing-ba-da-boom.
Seriously, it’s the first time since the 2016 Summer Sweat Series launched that I have had a minute to sit down and tell you guys how AWESOME our launch party turned out. First off, this party was to kick off the start of the Sweat Series, but mostly to raise money for a non-profit for Girls on the Run Twin Cities, which is an amazing organization that encourages girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident using a fun, experience based curriculum which creatively integrates running. SO COOL, right? It’s a wonderful l organization and Team Fit Foodie can’t wait to work with them more in the future.
Anywho, Team Fit Foodie (HUMONGOUS SHOUT-OUT GOES TO LINLEY FOR MAKING ALL THIS HAPPEN) and Team Ambitious Kitchen worked our butts off to plan a kick-ass party. It was a SUCCESS if I do say so myself. The party was hosted at Alchemy in NE Minneapolis. We have worked with Alchemy in the past and we LOVE their space, their staff, and their workouts. Clearly, we heart Alchemy.
The launch party included a workout, followed by a fun brunch with AWESOME giveaways, and Rosé (duh).
The workout was written and taught by staff at Alchemy and let me tell you…IT WAS HARD CORE. Alchemy calls this workout an A20, which is basically a twenty minute AMRAP including a dynamic/yoga fusion warm-up and cool-down.
There were varying levels of fitness in the class and everybody made it through. Let me tell you, I was one sweaty BEAST. I was literally showering in my own sweat for 20 minutes (maybe because there wasn’t a ton of air flow…or because I dominated those burpees…the world may never know). There were so many people working their asses off and I loved every freakin’ minute of it. It’s all about the energy of the people around you AND the music. We finished the A20 off with some calming yoga moves and corpse pose (my favorite) and then it was time to BRUNCH. IT. UP.
We served granola and yogurt parfaits because you can’t go wrong with parfaits. Am I right or am I right? WholeMe and Seven Sundays sponsored our brunch and people went NUTS over the ‘nola. You can’t go wrong with Wholeme Lemon Berry Chia Clusters and Seven Sundays Cocoa & Coconut Muesli. HEAVEN. Plus, they are both Minnesota-made. It hit the spot after that crazy workout. We had other yummy munchies like, chips and salsa, guacamole, veggies, and so on. The works.
The drinky-drinks for brunch were also provided by MN based organizations. Surdyks Wine Shop donated MINNESOTA MADE Rosé. Yes, that’s a thing. It was refreshing and I lost count of how many bottles we poured (and how many glasses I drank ;)). If you’ve never been to Surdyks and you live in the Minneapolis area, you are missing out! Not only do they have an amazing wine collection and wine tastings on the regular, they have a BOMB cheese shop that just so happens to cook up some tasty sandwiches. GO THERE NOW.
Our brunch would not have been complete without coffee. As you know, I go through withdrawals from coffee if I don’t have at least 3 cups in the morning (don’t judge). Some of our favorite guys from Bizzy Coffee set up a coffee bar with their delicious cold brew coffee. They brought the works. Creamers, milks, and it was amazing. They even hit it HARD at the workout, too. #hardcore
I may have double-fisted for the entirety of the brunch. Rosé in one hand, Bizzy Coffee in the other. I wasn’t upset about it.
The Swag Bags.
I’m just going to come out and say it—> Our swag bags were the SHIIIIIIIZ-NIT. If you came to the event, you are one lucky duck that got to try lots of new goodies. Seriously, the bag itself was a Minnesota themed re-usable bag from TRADER JOE’S. Another #win for TJ’s. They were a dream to work with.
The bags were stuffed with-
- Designer Whey Protein
- Aura Cacia Yoga Mat Spray
- Frontier Co-op Paprika
- Kind Bars
- RX Bars
- Oatmega Bars
- Planters Peanuts
- Lindt Truffles
- Seven Sundays Muesli and Single Serve Oatmeal Cups
- Bizzy Coffee
- Primal Kitchen Almond Dark Chocolate bars
The giveaways were sickkkkkk. It was fun to have Marissa from Finish Line at the event. She surprised us by giving away 3 pairs of adidas shoes from FinishLine.com! WAMMMMMMMY. It was unfortunate that I couldn’t win that one. We also gave away a pretty nice prize basket from Primal Kitchen.
All in all it was really fun to meet FFF and AK readers! You guys are the ones that make our job possible and why we even put on the Summer Sweat Series in the first place! Thank you to those who came and for raising money for Girls On the Run!
