Well week 3 of the Healthy Glow Guide definitely turned out much different than expected! Totally thought I was going to GSD, get some great workouts in, and eat really healthy before leaving for my big trip to Colorado. Whelp, I got whatever is going around and was pretty much hunkered down on the couch from Mon-Wed hoping to feel better ASAP. I had the most painful sore throat I’ve ever experience and very low energy so I went in to urgent care and turns out it’s viral, so there’s not much you can do other than hydrate, sleep, and rest So, that’s exactly what I did! Along with lots of hot lemon + honey + ginger tea, Advil, probiotics, and Nyquil. No working out for me and lots of smoothies and popsicles!
Week 3 Eats
My throat hurt so bad (we’re talking open sores), that it was painful to eat. The meals I was planning on eating from the HGG didn’t really happen other than the two I prepped last Sunday – Banana Bread Pancakes and Skinny Refried Bean and Chicken Enchiladas. I’m glad I took some initiative because it was nice to have real food available as I started feeling better. This past week I pretty much lived on soup, popsicles, smoothies! I can’t wait to bring on the real food next week 😀
I am sad I didn’t get to make these Breakfast Tacos, but am planning on making them in Colorado for my friends!
Week 3 Workouts
Resting > important than working out when you are sick. I took off Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday and then did a very light cardio session on Wednesday where I just ran/walked. I still wasn’t feeling 100%, but I needed to get out of my apartment and move my body a little bit. Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday were planned off days for my ski trip to Colorado! Next week I shall get back on track with my workouts. It’s going to feel great!
I wish I had a bigger and better recap of Week 3 from the Healthy Glow Guide, but life happens and sometimes you just need to listen to your body. There are a couple of things that I would recommend doing if you had a week like this. I would 1. repeat week 3 since I didn’t eat many of the meals or do any of the workouts OR 2. just move right on to week 4 (which is what I am going to do).
