Happy National Oatmeal Day!

You heard that right…There is a full day dedicated to Oatmeal and it’s TODAY! 

My love affair with oatmeal (and breakfast in general) began when I started reading healthy living blogs about 4 years ago. There really isn’t anything more satisfying than a big bowl of steaming hot oatmeal loaded with some fruit and nuts/nutbutter. My mouth is watering.

Today’s breakfast is actually sponsored by Driscoll’s. I met these lovely people in 2011 at the Fitness and Health Bloggers Conference. They sent me a few coupons in light of this glorious day, so I broke out the raspberry this morning. 

Along with a handful of raspberries, I added 1/3C rolled oatmeal, 2/3C water, ~1/2T honey. I microwaved it for about 1 minute and a half and then added some raw almonds and another drizzle of honey. MmMm.

I usually indulge in fresh berries during the Summer time and stick to frozen during winter because it’s cheaper. My favorite kind of berries are probably blueberries, especially when they are big and juicy! This mornings fresh raspberries really was a treat!

It’s been a while since I’ve posted my morning oats. I don’t know why I stopped. Heck, I started reading blogs because the bloggers I started reading posted their oatmeal frequently.
