Blackened Salmon

This salmon is seasoned with cajun seasoning and broiled for 8 minutes. It is easy, flavorful, and a perfect for a weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

  • 2 lb. skin-on salmon filets 4 ½-lb. filets
  • ¼ cup homemade cajun seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or avocado oil
  • 4 fresh lemon slices

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to high broil and spray a baking sheet with non-stick cooking spray or line the pan with parchment paper.
  • Place the salmon filets onto a baking sheet and pat the salmon with a paper towe to remove any excess moisturel.

  • Sprinkle about 1 tablespoon of cajun seasoning over each salmon filet and pat the dry rub into the salmon. Drizzle oil over the salmon filets.

  • Place the salmon into the oven and bake for 8 minutes or until the dry rub turns a char color. Do not walk away from your salmon. 8 minutes is perfect in our oven, but make sure to check it starting at 5.

  • Remove the salmon from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes. Serve the salmon with a lemon slice and squeeze the lemon slice over the salmon before serving.

Tips & Notes

  • How spicy your salmon is will depend on what cajun seasoning you use. We used a homemade cajun seasoning that is Minnesota Nice (not super spicy). If you use a store bought spice mix, add 1-2 teaspoons of brown sugar to the mix to tone down the spice if needed.
