Pizza
- 1 loaf Italian bread sliced in half lengthwise
- 2 cups shredded pizza cheese mix or 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese and 1 cup shredded parmesan cheese
- 4 oz. mini pepperoni*
- 1 large green pepper diced
Add the tomato sauce, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, and sugar to a small saucepan and whisk to combine. Bring the sauce to a gentle boil over medium/high heat. Reduce the heat to simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat.
Preheat the oven to 375ºF and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Place each half of the Italian bread crust side down on the baking sheet. Spread ½ cup of pizza sauce evenly over each half of the bread. Evenly sprinkle ½ cup of cheese over the top of the sauce and then place ½ the pepperoni and diced pepper on top of the cheese of both halves. Finish by adding the remaining cheese sprinkled over the top of both halves of the pizza.
Bake it for 15 minutes. Check the pizza, and if the edges of the bread are golden brown and the cheese is melted, it’s done. If not, bake for another 5 minutes.
Remove the pizza from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
- You can switch up the toppings and cheese for this recipe to your favorite pizza toppings.
- You can use normal-size pepperoni, too but it will take up more room on the pizza.
- We used an Italian loaf of bread, but you can use any baked loaf of bread other than a french baguette; those tend to be a bit too skinny.
