Happy St. Patty’s Day! Can you believe, I didn’t pack ANYTHING green. I feel like a complete loser. Here is a little recap of last night and today…
Last Night
[Number 1] Austin’s nightlife is unbelievably rockin’ and the downtown area reminds be a bit of Chicago.
[Number 2] The people watching is phenomenal.
[Number 3] The food selection is TO DIE FOR. I am all about “mom and pop” eats and there are beyond plenty of them here in Austin ๐Ÿ™‚ (especially Tex Mex style!) We grabbed a quick dinner at “The Short Bus.” Um. De.lic.ious! Their bread was homemade and freshly toasted! I had the Teacher’s Pet.
On our way to Brett Dennen and Matt Nathanson, we ran into not one, but TWO different frozen yogurt places…on the same street! When in Rome Austin? Berry Austin was self-serve and I may have over done it a bit…[11.1 ounces]. Don’t judge, I had to try every flavor ๐Ÿ™‚ My favorite two were mint and peanut butter.
Brett and Matt (my boyfriends) both played at The W Hotel, an elegant venue right downtown Austin. The vibe of the hotel was modern and fresh. We had a mini photo shoot on one of the balcony’s.
Each of the boys played for a half an hour. There is a quick turn around because there are so many different artists at each venue. I just have to say that Matt Nathanson is one of the most down to earth performers I have ever seen. I heart you ๐Ÿ™‚
After being rejected by 5 different venues because of the 21+ rule, my night ended around midnight. If only I could have been born a month earlier!

Today

The day started off bright an early with another quick workout. Getting workouts in while traveling can be quite difficult, but I find they rejuvenate my body. I had a quick 30 minute run on the treadmill along with some lunges and squats. Efficient!
We were downtown Austin by 11 am and ready to explore! Claire (Check out her awesome blog!!) and I headed to the official SXSW Trade Show. So many cool people, so much FREE STUFF! Guess who was there? BLOGGER! I picked their brains for a while and asked lots of bloggity questions. Brett, one of the awesome techies, gave me some great blog pointers! He helped me add in some cool social media buttons (located on the ride hand side of FFF). To top things off, he featured Fit Foodie Finds on Blog of Note as the blog of the day! How cool is that?
After the Trade Show I was famished. I am used to gnashing on food constantly throughout the day! We hopped outside only to find a fajita bar ๐Ÿ™‚ Good thing I am a badge holder, it was free!! I also grabbed a fruit salad to satisfy the sweet tooth.
After lunch, we headed back into the convention center for some great sessions on branding and hip hop identity. [more on that later].
Tonight’s plan is to go back downtown for some dinner and then to THE STROKES! AHHH. Hopefully we can get in, there are so many people down here!

Tell me something exciting.
