This Chocolate Overnight Oats with Raspberry Swirl takes less than 5 minutes to prep so that you can have a delicious make-ahead breakfast ready to go the next morning.
Old-fashioned oats soak in a mixture of almond milk, Greek yogurt, and pure maple syrup and get topped off with smashed fresh raspberries. With its creamy texture and rich chocolate flavor, you won’t believe it’s actually good for you!

I make this recipe when I feel like I want to eat dessert for breakfast (which is like every day). The raspberry swirl is simple — it’s just mashed raspberries. And, if you want it to be cheesecake-like, you can swirl in some Greek yogurt too!
Once you let these oats thicken overnight, they are ready for an infusion of smashed raspberries in the morning. Mmm delicious.
What’s In Chocolate Overnight Oats
- Rolled oats: This recipe is made with Better Oats Organic Old Fashioned Oats: in my opinion, the best type of oats to make easy overnight oats recipes. I find that rolled oats give overnight oats a chewier, more delightful texture.
- Chia seeds: These add even more thickness to the oats while also providing a mega nutritional boost!
- Almond milk: I always use unsweetened vanilla almond milk in my overnight oats. I prefer the flavor, and it’s also lower in calories than regular milk or other non-dairy milk.
- Greek yogurt: Adding Greek yogurt to overnight oats makes them super creamy and adds a protein boost. It’s what gives these oats a raspberry cheesecake-like taste!
- Maple syrup: The perfect natural sweetener to bring everything together for these chocolate oats.

pro tip: add the raspberries last!
We found that adding the raspberries right before serving helps preserve their freshness.
Fun Ingredient Swaps & Adds-Ins
You can make these overnight oats in all kinds of ways by using different ingredients! Not a fan of almond milk? Use oat milk, soy milk, or regular milk instead.
You can also up the protein by adding a little protein powder to your oat mixture or nut butter like almond butter or peanut butter. Feeling fancy? Add a sprinkle of cacao nibs on top for extra chocolate crunch.
Fresh fruit like bananas, blueberries, or strawberries are also great additions to these oats. Don’t be afraid to get creative and try new combinations!

make the perfect overnight oats
The key to perfect overnight oats is the proper ratio of liquid, oats, and chia seeds. As you let them sit in the fridge overnight, they thicken and become heavenly.
How to Store
You can make these oats up to 3 days in advance. Keep them stored in an airtight container in the fridge for easy grab-and-go breakfasts throughout the week.
Just be sure to add the raspberry swirl and any additional toppings before serving!
