Inside my Bedroom with OSO Mattress

I’ve been putting the finishing touches on my bedroom for about a year now (LOL) and I’m really excited to finally take you inside my bedroom, my favorite room in my house! Last year at this time, I moved into a beautiful apartment outside the city and didn’t own a single piece of furniture. I told myself I was going to do it right and buy big girl furniture because my home is not only the place that I live, but where I work. It’s where I spend the majority of the time when I’m home in the cities.

Today I am partnering with the wonderful OSO to give you a glimpse at my favorite room in my house- my bedroom! It’s simple, tranquil, and the best dang place on Earth to take a nap.

Last summer one of my besties, Sam, flew in to Minneapolis to help me design my space. I actually met Sam in design school at The University of Minnesota. She was studying interior design and I was studying graphic design. Sam moved back to her home state of Idaho after our first year to finish her degree, but we never lost touch. I even went to her wedding in Mexico this past December. Anyways- Sam was AMAZING during this whole process. I basically gave her a budget and she told me what to do with it. I love that she suggested to go neutral pretty much everywhere but the accent features (ie: blankets, pillows, etc.). I could easily switch out my comforter or wall decor and my room would be a whole new space without changing much because of this. So a GIANT shoutout to Sam-a-lam. PS: if you haven’t checked out her blog…you should do that ASAP. I pretty much want to be her.

Bed

I am obsessed with my bed and rightfully so. This getup was the first thing I purchased when I moved into my new place. Yah don’t need a dresser, or a desk, or a couch…you NEED A BED. I knew I wanted a simple platform bed with a fabric headboard…preferably grey! I got my bed from a local resale shop in Minneapolis called Odds and Ends for $399. It actually went out of business a few months ago…whomp. My amazing bedside tables (SIMILAR) are part of my bedroom set and they are West Elm. Love white and blonde wood together. My bed linens (sheets and duvet), pillows, and throw are also West Elm. You can’t really see it from the photo, but my sheets are mustard yellow and cream!

Bed Decor

Above my bed I have 3 fun woven pieces. GET THIS. THEY ARE RUG SAMPLES FROM WEST ELM AND WERE $5.00 EACH. SCORE. Above the bedside tables are 2 sconce lights from Target. Those were super cheap…like $19.99. I’m not sold on them, but they are a good place holder for now! On top of my bedside table is my girl Andie Mitchell’s memoir, It Was Me All Along. It’s a MUST READ. I’ve also got an Illume Candle (made in MN) and my Ray Ban glasses…I’M BLIND.

OSO Mattress

YOU GUYS, I got a new mattress and it is seriously the best thing that has ever happened to me.

You know how much I value a good night’s sleep or a good nap every now and then (….or every damn day…#truth). I’m pretty much a professional when it comes to sleeping and when I don’t get a good night’s sleep, I am literally the world’s crankiest person. So, yes..this OSO Mattress is one of the best things that has ever happened to me.

First off, it was delivered to me in the MAIL. No hassle at the store. I didn’t have to figure out how to have it delivered to my house and I didn’t have to figure out how to move a huge awkward mattress up any stairs (yeah..that’s the freakin’ worst).

Also, to my surprise the box was SO SMALL. Look at it! It was tightly rolled up into a mattress hotdog. If you witnessed the opening of the mattress on Snapchat, then you know that Lin and I had a BLAST opening it. It was like throwing one of those tiny foam dinosaurs into water and watching it expand, except it grew faster and way bigger than me. At first, I was skeptical. How can a mattress that is packaged in a box and shipped to my door be comfortable? How can it be cozy and squishy? There was only one way to find out. A sleep test.

And?

IT WAS A DREAM.

The OSO comes with a Firm or Soft side option. I (of course) enjoy a soft and cozy feel to my mattress and I loved it.

Any-who, when it come to buying a mattress this is definitely a route I would take again. Delivered right to my door, fun to open, super comfy, and it was nice to have the option to send it back if I didn’t like it (101 day trial and a 10 year warranty). Thankfully, I totally dig it..so I have that going for me! I would have happily paid $925 (I have a queen) for the ease of setup and quality of this mattress.

One thing that I’ve learned in my old age is…DON’T SKIMP ON QUALITY when it comes to furniture. I LOVE my bedroom set, but it wasn’t super cheap.

Dresser 1

My long dresser (similar) is from West Elm. The time to buy furniture is WHEN IT’S ON SALE. Everything always goes on sale….don’t pay full price. The two mirrors above it were fairly inexpensive form IKEA. I want to say they were $49 each. The gold lamp I got on sale for $99 from West Elm. The picture frames are from Anthropologie, the jewelry holder is from Target (similar), and the marble tray is from Target (got it for 20% off!).

Fav perfumes right now: Amazing Grace by Philosophy and Poppy by Coach.

Dresser 2

My second, tall dresser is part of that same bedroom set from West Elm. Again, I got it when they had one of their furniture sales online. The frame is from Home Goods, the gold duck bowl is from Target, and the two vases are West elm (SALE).

Wall Decor

Last but not least…and the actual last things I got for my room are these awesome wall hangings! While I got them from West Elm, they are made by local MN designers —> Live and Love MN. I am still on the lookout for one more thing to go under the ampersand. I want a silhouette of the state of Wisconsin (where I grew up!).

Few that was a long one! I hope you enjoyed the tour of my bedroom. My goal was to mix a mid-century modern style with a tranquil vibe. It only took a year, but I definitely think I achieved this ๐Ÿ™‚

I really liked the mattress. I did not know this type of mattress, it will also be great for me, since I am a very tall person and I need a bed that is both long and wide. Thanks for sharing.

Try Etsy for the wooden State map…I have seen them there I am pretty sure. Like the mattress and tables especially!

I’m moving soon and the first thing I’m going to do is buy a new bed. I haven’t slept a full night straight through in years and years in my own bed. I’m hoping that I can remedy that with a better mattress. Fingers crossed because I’m certainly due for a good night’s sleep. I’ve never seen a mattress like yours that is just rolled up like that. It seems so strange haha

When we first moved to San Francisco we may have slept on an air mattress for several days until we could make the trek to ikea. Should’ve done something like this!

If there is one thing younneed in a bedroom it’s a bed or at least a mattress. I moved 2 years agonfrom homenwith no furniture. My fiance actually bought a mattress and desk from ikea. As for the bedroom I have yet to get dressers and still have some of my clothes that just stay in suitcases. I plan to move again this year so havent wanted the hassle of moving too much. I love your bedroom decor though. Looks great.
