Welcome to the first of many recipes this holiday season that are so near and dear to our hearts ♥️ We’re so excited to be sharing family recipes that each of us grew up enjoying during the holiday season.

And first up is my (Rosie, FFF kitchen manager and recipe developer here!) dear grandma Ginny’s green bean sauté. I have the fondest memories of my grandma making this dish for us during the holiday season. Like many kids, vegetables were not my favorite, but with the Italian dressing and Dijon mustard, I ate these green beans like they were candy!

Making them is SO simple. You just sauté green beans in Italian dressing over the stove, add the Dijon mustard, and top them with silvered almonds. That’s it!

Green Bean Sauté – Made With Only 5 Ingredients!

  1. Fresh green beans: You want to make sure you get fresh green beans. Frozen ones tend to be too soft and may not sauté well.
  2. Italian dressing: Use whatever brand you prefer. It adds a great tangy flavor to the green beans.
  3. Salt: Just a pinch brings out the flavor and helps to cook the beans.
  4. Dijon mustard: This ingredient may seem unusual for a green bean recipe, but trust me, it adds the perfect amount of tanginess and depth to the dish.
  5. Slivered almonds: Make sure you use toasted slivered almonds for a crunchy texture and nutty flavor.

All of the recipes in this series are inspired by someone special in each of our families. These are the recipes we grew up enjoying during the holidays. From our hearts to yours ❤️

What kind of Italian dressing do you recommend?

Grandma Ginny made this recipe with Kraft Italian dressing (like the true midwesterner she is 😋), but to make this dish with a cleaner ingredient list, we used Brianna brand Italian dressing. Feel free to use your favorite brand or make a batch of our ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Homemade Italian Dressing!

Other Tasty Elements to Add

This recipe would be delicious topped with shredded parmesan cheese! You could also add in some sliced red onions or garlic for extra flavor. Other yummy ideas are to mix in some chopped bacon or top with fried onions for a little crunch.

here’s a tip!

Every Italian dressing is different, so be sure to taste the beans and add salt and paper to taste if needed.

Storage

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. To reheat, simply sauté the beans over medium heat until warmed through.

What to Serve with Ginny’s Green Bean Sauté

Since this is a holiday favorite in our family, we recommend serving it with some of our other favorite festive dishes, such as this Seared Beef Tenderloin Roast, Leftover Turkey Pot Pie, or these Whipped Cottage Cheese Mashed Potatoes.

I’m also a really big fan of it with these Sweet Potatoes Au Gratin and Baked Pork Roast!
