What’s in a Blueberry Spinach Smoothie?

  • Bananas: Bananas are the MVPs when it comes to creaminess. They blend up smooth and dreamy, adding natural sweetness. Check out how we freeze bananas for perfect smoothies every time.
  • Blueberries: This is the blueberry base for our smoothie. Adds a touch of sweetness and that beloved blueberry flavor.
  • Greek yogurt: Plain Greek yogurt is definitely my favorite flavor to add to smoothies, as it adds a little tang. It’s packed with protein to keep you fuller for longer.
  • Spinach: Now, spinach might seem a little out of place at first, but trust me, it’s the secret weapon. You barely taste it, but it packs a powerful punch of vitamins and minerals. Plus, it adds a nice thick texture to the smoothie, making it super filling.
  • Orange juice: Adds a fresh citrusy zing and helps the smoothie blend better.
  • Fresh ginger: This adds a little zing to the smoothie, balancing out the sweetness and waking up your taste buds.
  • High-speed blender: This is the key to ensuring you have a perfectly creamy smoothie and not an icy one.

In general, this smoothie is a great healthy snack and an easy way to get a serving of fruit AND vegetables in. We all know we could use a little more of those in our lives.

here’s a tip!

One of our favorite things to do with smoothies is to make them into popsicles for meal prep! Check out our meal-prep smoothie popsicles so you can enjoy delicious smoothies on the go without having to make one each time!

Customize Your Blueberry Spinach Smoothie

  • Nut butter: Add a tablespoon or two of almond butter, peanut butter, cashew butter, or sunflower seed butter.
  • Texture: Toss in some hemp seeds, ground flax, or chia seeds
  • Milk instead of orange juice: Feel free to use almond milk, oat milk, or coconut milk as a plant-based milk option, or use coconut water or apple juice.
  • Add different fresh fruit: If you’re not a fan of blueberries or want to add more fruit, feel free to toss in whatever you like. Strawberries, pineapple, and mango would be delicious.
  • Want a little more sweetness? Add some honey or maple syrup
  • Avocado: This creates a super creamy texture in the smoothie and adds a dose of healthy fats.
  • Powders: If you want a boost of nutrients, put a scoop of collagen powder or protein powder in your smoothie. We love adding this plant-based protein powder to our smoothies!

Can I use frozen blueberries?

Absolutely! We use fresh blueberries in this recipe, but frozen ones would totally work, too! You may need a little more liquid to help the smoothie blend better, though.

Can I add different leafy greens to the smoothie besides spinach?

Yes! Feel free to add some kale, collard greens, Swiss chard, and even celery! Don’t worry. You can barely taste the veggies.

How can I get a thicker smoothie?

Only add a little liquid at first. Then, blend your smoothie ingredients. If you need more liquid, you can always add more but you can’t take away!

There is sucralose (artificial sugar) in this yogurt – just FYI ๐Ÿ™‚

I didn’t know yoplait removed all those artificial ingredients from their yogurts, usually I pay extra for the organic brands, but I might need to give these a try. And love the idea of adding the berries, vitamin c, and leafy greens to a smoothie to stay healthy during the winter. My husband actually just said he wasn’t feeling himself so maybe i’ll whip this up for him ; )

Currently obsessed with putting OJ in my smoothies since I made my orange quinoa smoothie last week. Definitely gonna give this one a go, because I’m not a fan of being sick all winter ๐Ÿ™

I am so over the sniffles, like come on already! My mom keeps telling me to drink O.J, but Im not fond of it by itself! Its a different story, however, if its added to this beautiful smoothie ๐Ÿ™‚

One portion of smoothie has not only vitamin C but also vitamin K, A and B2, it’s great to avoid illness.
It’s also very easy to replace greek yoghurt by low-fat yoghurt if you are on a low-calorie diet

Hahaha, it hasn’t caught to me yet, but better to be safe than sorry with the cold! I love the idea of putting Greek yogurt and tons of blueberries and spinach into it to fight off the viruses!

Eating my smoothie (with a spoon cause I’m a spoon and bowl person…) as I write this! I’m convinced my daily green smoothie has helped keep the sniffles away but you know I’m sick everyday anyway haha. So glad to see yoplait came out with a greek version and of course I love that it’s #minnesotamade ๐Ÿ™‚

I loved yoplait when I was younger! When they came out with that whipped line I was obsessed. Love yogurt in smoothies for a great added protein source.
