Protein Peanut Butter Cups
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup creamy, all-natural peanut butter
- 2-3 tablespoons vanilla protein powder We like Garden of Life
- 1 cup dark chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoons coconut oil
Instructions
- Fill a mini muffin tin with muffin liners. Then, spray them with coconut oilicooking spray and set aside.
- In a medium bowl, combine the peanut butter and protein powder together. Start with 2 tablespoons of protein powder and go up from there. The amount of protein powder depends on how drippy your peanut butter is to begin with.
- Next, separate the peanut butter and protein mixture into 12 marble-sized balls (~1 teaspoon), and set aside.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, melt dark chocolate chips and coconut oil, stirring every 45 seconds until chocolate is smooth.
- Scoop one teaspoon of the chocolate mixture onto the bottom of each muffin liner. Then, place muffin tin into the freezer for about 10-15 minutes or until chocolate hardens.
- Next, place one protein peanut butter ball on top of each hardened chocolate, carefully flattening the ball with your finger until it has a smooth top.
- Finally, add two more teaspoons of the melted chocolate on top of the peanut butter to each liner to complete your peanut butter cup
- Place muffin tin in the freezer for another 10-15 minutes until chocolate is hardened.
- Enjoy!
Tips & Notes
- Store these cups in the freezer in an air-tight container or gallon-size ziplock.

HEY. I was on tv talking all about CHICKEN and how I love cooking chicken in the crock-pot! You can watch FFF’s segment on The Jason Show HERE.
What if you dont have coconut oil? can i use olive oil?
Olive oil should work! Any kind of oil, for that matter!
These would make EXCELLENT gifts for gym-rat friends!
How do you get the peanut butter to roll into a ball? Mine is just a goopy mess that sticks to the spoon or my hand and never forms a hardened ball.
Add more protein powder and mix well with a spoon or small spatula until you can form it into balls!
omg… i just made these & already passed this recipe along to 2 pb cup lovers i know. so good & so easy.
WOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for sharing the love 🙂
Hello Lee,
I just made these in preparation to add them to the banana ice-cream and they are soo good.
I used pure peanut butter, hemp protein and added a little stevia and vanilla extract.
Melted Lilly’s dark chocolate stevia sweetened chips over a dbl boiler.
Thanks for your website and inspiration! Loril
Yum!!!! I want to make some now 😛
I bet my Vanilla Shakeology would be great to add to these yummy little pb cups too! I am so excited to give it a try 🙂 Thanks for sharing!!

Could you use chocolate protein powder in these?
Hey Carla! Absolutely!
I TOTALLY need my dark chocolate and nut butter fix after dinner–even breakfast and lunch since I’m that obsessed! I’ve been reducing my intake on peanut butter since it started inflaming my digestion, so I’ve been substituting for hazelnut butter, walnut butter and almond butter, which all taste great too!
OMG. If I had to reduce my pb intake, I might die!
I love making my own peanut butter protein cups! Way better tasting and for you than your typical reeses
I’m totally a dessert-after-dinner person, too. A lil something sweet to finish off the meal is what I look for, and these look perfect. Nothing better than chocolate and peanut butter 🙂
I love all things PB and chocolate. These look so yummy and super easy. Can’t wait to try them!
I am addicted to Justin’s dark chocolate PB cups! Time to make my own.
OMG YASSSS. Those are so flipping good!
Me too! That’s what brought me here! I couldn’t find Justin’s PB Cups while grocery shopping tonight and I’ve been having a serious PB cup craving (but suppose to be eating clean). VOILA! God answered a prayer and delivered me here! Just waiting for the first layer of chocolate to harden!
YASSSS for added protein in these already amazing pb cups! Peanut butter is great, but when sandwiched between dark chocolate with added protein, it becomes BAE!
It’s heaven on Earth.
These look like the perfect after-dinner treat! I have some sunbutter I need to use up so I may sub that for the PB. Love your wifi router name, by the way!!
o0oooo love sunbutter!!!
These look AMAZE-BALLS. And you looked awesome on The Jason Show, congratulations!!!
