One of our favorite gyms in Minneapolis, Alchemy, inspired this coffee protein drink. We order it pretty much after every workout and it’s so yummy and so easy to make. All you need are three ingredients —> cold brew (or strong coffee) + milk + protein powder.

“Love this and you! Such a great way to get your caffeine and protein simultaneously. Definitely plan to check out Aloha-I’ve been looking for a new and clean protein! Thanks lady!” – Jamie
We love making this coffee protein drink after a morning workout because you get your caffeine and protein all in one. Most days I eat breakfast before my workout, so something light, refreshing, and caffeine-amped is what I’m craving after my workout.
We’ve been obsessed with this protein drink since we first posted this recipe in 2017 and it seriously never gets old. The beauty of this cold brew protein drink is takes minutes to make and is extremely delicious.
Why You’ll love this coffee protein drink
No artificial sweeteners: Most pre-made coffee protein drinks contain artificial sweeteners. However, this one is all-natural!
Caffeine buzz: If you’re a coffee lover, you’ll love the deep rich cold brew coffee.
Protein boost: Hitting your protein intake can be a struggle, which is why we love this coffee protein drink. It’s fun, delicious, and can help you reach your goals in a more convenient way!
What You Need to Make This Cold Brew Protein Drink Recipe
- Cold brew: We used cold brew concentrate for this recipe. It adds a rich coffee flavor that we love! If you can’t find this product, normal cold brew or chilled strong coffee will work too.
- Almond milk: Provides a creamy almond milk base for our coffee protein drink. We used unsweetened almond milk, but you could use sweetened if you like.
- Protein powder: We used Aloha Vanilla, which is a plant-based protein powder, but we’ve also made it with whey protein powder and it works just fine! You can also use collagen peptides in place of protein powder.

Make This Cold Brew Protein Drink Your Own
- Sweetener: If you want to up the sweetness a bit try our honey simple syrup or classic simple syrup.
- Milk: If you’re not a fan of almond milk or don’t care about being dairy-free, no worries. You can swap out the almond milk for soy milk, coconut milk, oat milk, or dairy milk.
- Protein powder: Feel free to play around with different flavors of protein. We used vanilla, but chocolate protein powder or even unflavored protein powder would work.
- Smoothie: To make a coffee protein smoothie – you can blend it with some frozen bananas or ice. Check out how we freeze bananas.
Do I have to use cold brew concentrate?
Nope! You can use your favorite brand of cold brew, plain old coffee, or espresso if you like! You can even make your own cold brew at home if you want.

Always a winner! Love protein cold brew! ❤️
Hey, your recipe is really good, especially I love Silk Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk.
Instead of cold brew concentrate how much cold brew should I use? I buy cans of cold brew from
Costco!
Hi Lee, I can’t find your email on the blog. Just FYI: I shared your protein shake recipe in my latest blog post: http://coffeestylish.com/coffee-protein-shake-recipes/ . Love your work! Have a wonderful week!
Silk is a favorite of mine as well. Their soy protein milk is the bomb! Anyways, this looks like a great way to start the day! Coffee tastes so much better with a little non-dairy milk, in my opinion!
<3 100% agree! I always order Almond Milk or Soy Milk lattes :)
How would it be if you put it in a blender like a smoothie?

What is cold press concentrate please?
Hi Linda! Cold Press Concentrate is concentrated coffee that is usually found in the refrigerator section of a grocery store. Some places also have shelf stable concentrate. Think of it as very strong espresso that is ready to use. You can make quick coffee by just adding water or an easy iced coffee. Here is a link to concentrate we like –> http://amzn.to/2eIQgvg. We also use the cold brew concentrate from Trader Joes! Hope this helps!
