Blueberry Orange Granola

This healthy granola recipe is made with dried blueberries, oats, and orange zest. It’s sweetened with honey to give it that sweetness and crunch! Add it to your breakfast menu this week!

No matter what I’m eating, I am someone that needs a variety of textures when I am eating a meal. If I am having a creamy soup, I need some bacon bits on the top or some crackers to go along with my soup. The same goes for breakfast! This blueberry orange granola is a refreshing granola recipe that uses some traditional granola ingredients and some not-so-traditional ingredients as well! Here’s what you’ll need!- Old Fashioned Rolled Oats
- Slivered Almonds
- Dried Blueberries
- Coconut Flakes
- Honey
- Flax meal
- Orange Zest
- Orange Extract
- Coconut Oil
How to Make Crunchy + Crispy Oatmeal
How do you make perfect granola? It takes a special balance between your ingredients, the oil or fat the you use to crips up the oats, and the bake temp and time! If you like SUPER crispy granola we suggest that you never skimp on your oil. We use coconut oil to crips up this recipe, but adding a tablespoon of extra coconut oil (or butter) usually helps to crisp up those oats!Blueberry Orange Granola 101
How to serve with this granola!
There are so many different ways that you can serve this granola! Feel free to eat this granola by the handful. Here are a couple of other ways we like to eat this granola! On top of smoothies. Add a little crunch to your favorite smoothie by adding this granola! Our top smoothie recommendations would be this orange creamsicle smoothie or this strawberry protein shake. A topper for oatmeal. We love adding this granola to our overnight oats (mixed in or topped) or we love to sprinkle these oats on top of any of our hot oatmeals, too! Perfect for parfaits! Sometimes you are in the mood for granola, but you don’t feel like running to the grocery store, we get it! Here are some great substitution options for this blueberry orange granola. Old fashioned oatmeal–> Quick cooking oats Dried blueberries—> Any dried fruits (cranberries, cherries, apricots, etc.) Honey–> Maple syrup Orange Extract–> Orange juice and extra orange zest OR vanilla extract Coconut Oil–> ButterHow long does this granola last?
We recommend keeping this recipe in the refrigerator in an air tight container, because there is orange zest and dried blueberries in it! This granola should last about a week in the refrigerator.Healthy Granola Recipes
Blueberry Orange Granola
Ingredients
Dry
- 2.5 cups rolled oats, gluten-free
- 3/4 cup dried blueberries, unsweetened
- 1/2 cup coconut flakes, unsweetened
- 1/2 cup slivered almonds
- 3 tablespoons flax seed meal
- 1 tablespoon orange zest, fresh
Wet
- 1/4 cup coconut oil, melted
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 teaspoon orange extract
Instructions
- First, preheat oven to 330ºF. Then, line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, mix together all ingredients. Make sure all the dry ingredients are evenly coated with the wet.
- Bake at 330ºF for 28-30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes. Granola should be golden brown when done.
- Let cool. Store in an air-tight container for about a week.

I tweaked it a bit and added vanilla and orange extract along with the zest and juice of the orange with the addition of pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds. It was awesome

You will for sure need to use orange extract! Orange juice will make things a little soggy. You could use lemon extract…would be delish!

I have never used granola, but I have used muesli! LOVE!
