We made these no-bake chocolate peanut butter balls for a friend who just had her first baby. It was a perfect recipe to make with a toddler running around because he could help roll all the balls out once they were mixed up. I’m pretty sure he ate the equivalent of about 5 balls while were making these, but that’s OK😜!
These little balls of heaven are packed with fiber, protein, healthy fats, and a good amount of carbs to fuel you for whatever you need them for! This particular recipe is special in that it does not require a food processor which is usually used to grind the oats and all of the other ingredients together. Furthermore, there are no dates involved.
We’ve gotten both of these requests for our no-bake protein balls quite a few times over the years, and we finally came up with a super simple recipe that does just that –> combines all of the same flavors of our classic no-bake peanut butter balls, but with no kitchen equipment and no dates.
Ingredients for No Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Balls
- old-fashioned rolled oats
- cocoa powder
- peanut butter
- honey
- salt
We tried to keep this recipe simple by using ingredients we most likely already have in the pantry.
Substitutions and Variations
- You can use old-fashioned rolled oats or quick-cooking oats in this recipe. The old-fashioned oats will give a bit more texture and the quick-cooking oats will create more of a homogeneous ball.
- We used cocoa powder to make these chocolatey. You can also substitute some of the cocoa powder for chocolate protein powder. We do not recommend using only protein powder, cocoa powder adds the best chocolatey flavor.
- If you end up using both cocoa powder and chocolate protein powder, you may need to add a bit more honey to make sure they stick together.

Storage Suggestions
We suggest placing all the balls on a plate and transferring them to the freezer for 15-20 minutes for them to set and become less sticky. Remove them from the freezer and transfer them to an air-tight container or a freezer-safe bag. Store them for up to 3 months in the freezer.
Chocolate No Bake Peanut Butter Balls
Ingredients
- 1 cup rolled oatmeal
- 1/4 cup honey or brown rice syrup
- 1/4 cup all natural peanut butter*
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- pinch of salt
Instructions
- In a medium-size bowl, mix together all ingredients.*
- Then wet hands. Use a tablespoon cookie scoop to scoop out dough and roll between your palms to form balls.
- Store in the fridge for up to 1 week or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
Tips & Notes
- For this recipe, make sure you use drippy peanut butter. The moisture in the oils will help these balls form!
- Option to place all ingredients in a food processor and process until a dough is formed. Some like to do this for easier digestion!
- If your dough is a little too dry, add more honey.

made these while under quarantine — definitely helps with preventing one from eating all the “cheat treats” lying around. Making another batch tonight! Thank you!
I just made them, so easy to make and a great taste. Will be making these often.
These were perfect for my chocolate craving! I also rolled them in powdered sugar for an extra sweet touch. Delicious! Can’t wait to try the other ball recipes.โบ
Seriously the quickest and easiest chocolate fix I’ve ever had! I can’t wait to make these for my family xx
Theyโre delicious! I gave up sweets for Lent, and this is a nice, healthy alternative that I donโt need to feel guilty about. Any ideas on how to up the protein?
Yay! So glad you like them! Feel free to add a scoop of protein powder! You will need to add more dates or a little bit of water, but it could work! Otherwise, make our recipe for peanut butter protein bars and make them into balls instead of balls! https://fitfoodiefinds.com/peanut-butter-protein-bars/
I had a sweet craving and all I had in the house was oatmeal, peanut butter, cocoa powder and honey. Walla! These appeared in 10 minutes. Nice treat
I am allergic to honey and i dont have brown rice syrup and im not really worried about calorie count so would maple syrup work in place of the other two? or brown sugar?
Dates?

Can you please let me know how much does one ball weigh according to those nutrition facts you are stating? That would mean a lot to me.
