What is in breakfast burritos?
Just a few simple ingredients needed for these protein-packed breakfast burritos:
- Eggs + Milk: The base of the burrito filling.
- Veggies: Onion, garlic, and red pepper add flavor.
- Bacon + Cheese: For protein and creaminess.
- Tortillas: To keep it all together!
Breakfast Burrito Variations
Breakfast burritos are incredibly versatile and the ingredient combinations are endless. Try these variations on our protein breakfast burritos:
Veggies: For veggie-packed burritos, add another pepper (bell, poblano, or jalapeño), some fresh spinach or arugula, mushrooms, or any other leftover veggies you have on hand.
Bacon: Replace the bacon with cooked breakfast sausage, or skip the meat altogether.
Cheese: Use your favorite type of shredded cheese. Any kind works!
Tortillas: Choose any tortilla or wrap that won’t break when folded. For true breakfast sandwiches, try our recipe for freezer breakfast sandwiches.
FAQ
Absolutely! For 8 breakfast burritos, simply double all of the ingredients. Just make sure the pan you use is big enough to cook 16 eggs.
Use non-dairy milk and vegan cheese (or omit the cheese completely).
Freezing Breakfast Burritos
Enjoy these breakfast burritos straight off the stove or freeze them for later (you could even make a double batch!). To freeze, wrap each burrito in plastic wrap and squeeze out as much air as possible. Wrap again with a layer of foil. Label each individually wrapped burrito and freeze for up to 3 months.
To Reheat
- From Frozen: Unwrap the frozen burrito and place it on a plate in the microwave. Use the defrost setting and cook for 2-3 minutes, flipping every minute. Then, microwave on high for 60-90 seconds, or until hot.
- From Thawed: Transfer the breakfast burrito from the freezer to the refrigerator the night before. When ready to warm, unwrap the frozen burrito, place it on a plate, and microwave on high for 60-90 seconds, or until hot.
Serving Suggestions
Enjoy these breakfast burritos as a standalone meal on the go, or with fresh fruit, a few extra pieces of oven baked bacon, and a hot cup of coffee.

Love this recipe! Just wondering if there are any other recipes you would recommend for breakfast that I can prepare in advance?
Yes! I wrote a whole post on it —> https://fitfoodiefinds.com/2016/04/meal-prep-recipes-breakfast/
This recipe looks great! I’m new to meal prepping and am wondering how long these burritos are good for in the freezer? I’m not use to freezing things with egg in them and I’m looking to make a bunch for me and my husband. Thanks 🙂
I would say they are good for up to 3 months! Make sure you wrap them in plastic wrap to get as much air out as possible, followed by tin foil! Good luck!
9g of protein is not much, but tasty is great!
This has 25 grams of protein!
I calculated it out and didn’t get 25g of protein. Where is the protein coming from? If you wouldn’t mind explaining 🙂
Also, does bacon stays crispy when you reheat the burrito?
Can you wrap everything and freeze it?
Yes you can wrap these and freeze them for sure! The bacon won’t be SUPER crispy because when you reheat it, bacon typically gets softer!
Look very testy and its simple. Love it. So delicious!
This look so good! I will try it today. Thank u.
Is there anything else you can wrap it and if you don’t like the flat out they taste funny to me other than that the burrito looks good
Tortilla. Sometimes I put left over French frys in my egg mixture. And a dab of herdez hot sauce.
These look great!! I am also wondering what the best reheating instructions would be. I’ve been drinking juice in the mornings and it is not giving me enough protein and I am starving by 9am (I wake up at 4:30 to workout) so thinking of trying these next week!
I would either pop them in the oven or let them thaw overnight and throw them in the microwave!
What is Evoo
