Dark Chocolate Peppermint Protein Shake

Protein smoothie turned decadent treat? I think yes.

I’ve been really in to smoothie drinking ever since I started my recipe creation partnership with Designer Whey (through Fitfluential) about 8 months ago. Each month I create 4 recipes for DW, 2 of which are smoothies (yes, I am compensated). They sent me about 8 giant jugs of Designer Whey Protein Powder to work with, so I literally put it in everything.

You’d never guess that the base of this smoothie is frozen banana. The Dark Chocolate DW Protein Powder mixed with finely ground cocoa powder and a touch of peppermint extract, takes this protein smoothie to the next level.

Get festive with your next protein shake and make this Peppermint Protein Shake. It's made with whole ingredients and a boost of protein powder!

On top I made some homemade whipping cream, by just whipping cream with my hand mixer. I then shaved some dark chocolate on top for a little more oomph.

As 2013 comes to a close I wanted to re-share some of my favorite DW recipes that I have done throughout 2013. Disclaimer: I was NOT compensated for this post, I am sharing these recipes because I WANT to.

Protein Muesli Bars

White Chocolate Cookie Dough Blizzard

Vanilla Praline Protein Biscotti

20 Minute Strawberry Protein Ice Cream

Healthy Banana Shake

Vanilla Blackberry Overnight Oat Parfait

Blended Mocha Jo

Peanut Butter and Jelly Protein Smoothie

Who would have ever thunk you could use protein powder in so many different ways! Seriously.

What is the most unique way you use protein powder?

Hi, I had stomach surgery a week ago and as part of my recovery liquid diet I have to have protein shakes and similar. Well I just followed your recipe (although I’m in the UK and can’t get the DW protein powder, so I substituted half a sachet of Nestle Build Up Chocolate) and holy moly, it’s incredible. I absolutely love it. Thanks so much for inventing and publishing this!

A while ago we tried to make peppermint ice cream with a “peppermint flavour” and it was rubbish, this time we bought real peppermint extract and boy what a difference.

Thanks so much, your recipe is making my month long fluid only diet easier :)

This totally just made my day!! I am so glad you loved the recipe. It seriously tastes like heaven, doesn’t it?! And totally guilt free! Hopefully you get well fast! I don’t know how long I could only drink my food 😀 Cheers!

I am not a fan of protein shakes. I do not like smoothies at all. I think its a texture thing. Not real sure! I have Whey vanilla protein. Not sure what to do with it. Do you have any suggestions? This Dark Chocolate thin mint sounds really good. But I am afraid to spend the money on Chocolate protein and only use it once, like I have the vanilla.
