We love the cottage cheese pizza bowls trend, especially as a single-serve recipe, but wanted to up the anty and make a larger batch pizza dip that serves a crowd (ahem, game day!), and obviously the base NEEDED to be cottage cheese. Blend that right up with parmesan and garlic, top with sausage-filled marinara, more cheese and pepperoni, and get dipping!

We’ve become known for using whipped cottage cheese for both sweet and savory recipes here on Fit Foodie Finds, and we’re huge fans because not only is it high in protein, but it actually makes a lot of food taste better (ie: Protein Mac and Cheese and Cottage Cheese Protein Mousse). We love it’s rich texture and mild taste and it’s the perfect high-protein addition to pretty much anything — and this pizza dip is no different!

What’s so great about this whipped cottage cheese pizza dip? It packs all the delicious pepperoni pizza flavors you know and love, and bakes it to cheesy perfection atop a creamy base of whipped cottage cheese, parmesan and garlic. And, it packs a whopping 20g of protein per serving making it basically the best dip ever.

  • Preheat the oven to 350℉ and spray an 8×8-inch baking dish with cooking spray.

Cooked crumbled sausage in a black skillet with a wooden spoon on a light surface.
  • Place the cottage cheese, parmesan and garlic into a high-speed blender, and mix until combined.
Mixing bowl with creamy, light-colored batter being stirred by a white spatula with a wooden handle.

What’s your favorite variety of pizza? This pizza dip can be customized to pretty much anything your heart desires. We’ve made this pizza dip as written, as well as with the following toppings:

  • canadian bacon and pineapple
  • olives, green peppers, and onions
  • mozzarella, basil and sliced tomatoes

What to Dip In Pizza Dip

We love serving this whipped cottage cheese pizza dip with slices of focaccia bread, but any of the following would also be delish:

  • crostini
  • crackers
  • garlic bread
  • sliced veggies

Storage Recommendations

To store any leftover pizza dip, simply place it in an airtight container and keep it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. When ready to reheat, simply place it in the oven or microwave until warmed through. We like to finish ours under the broiler for extra bubbly goodness.

We don’t recommend freezing this dip to enjoy later as the texture of whipped cottage cheese can get icky when thawed – it’s best fresh or as refrigerated leftovers.
