We created a printable grocery list and directions of each recipe as well as a master grocery list in case you want to make all 6 at the same time, which we highly recommend doing.

We recommend cooking the thawed meal within 24-48 hours! Once it has been thawed, do not re-freeze.
How to Make Crockpot Freezer Meals
There are four parts to each of these crockpot freezer meals: 1. prep 2. freeze 3. thaw and 4. cook. The goal in prepping these meals ahead of time is to make dinner as easy as possible when you’re ready to cook.
So, that means getting as many of the ingredients as possible that each recipe calls for into the freezer bag so that you don’t have to add very many (if any) ingredients to the crockpot once it’s time to cook!
Prep
I like to start off by writing the name and date of the recipe onto the freezer-safe Ziploc bag with a sharpie. This will prevent you from forgetting what’s inside and when it was made!
The great thing about all of these recipes is that the ingredients that go into the bags are all raw, making it super simple to prepare.
Freeze
Once you’ve got all of the ingredients into the freezer bag, it’s time to remove as much air out of the bag as possible.
This part is key because if any air gets trapped in the bag, you risk freezer burn. So, just carefully push out as much air as you can before sealing tightly.
Thaw
Because you are planning to use your slow cooker to cook these crockpot chicken meals, you’ll want to thaw what’s in the bag completely. This will avoid any kind of food-borne bacteria from the poultry. Thawing options include:
- Thawing in the fridge overnight.
- Thawing on the countertop for a few hours.
- Thawing in the microwave on the defrost setting.
Cook
Once thawed, you can pour the contents of the bag into your slow cooker and add any remaining ingredients. In each recipe we give two different cooking options:
- Cook on low for 6-8 hours
- Cook on high for 3-4 hours.
When cooking chicken in the slow cooker, we always suggest cooking slower and lower to get a more tender chicken!
Crockpot Freeze Meals FAQ
We recommend fully thawing your freezer meal before cooking in the crockpot. You want to make sure you avoid any kind of food-borne illness, and if you stick the frozen meal into the crockpot you risk that!
We knew you were going to ask this! We’re confident you can cook most of these in the Instant Pot, however, we haven’t tested this method. If you try it, tell us what you did in the comments!
For chicken slow cooker recipes, we always suggest using the low function on your crockpot. The longer and slower it cooks, the more tender your chicken will be!
If frozen properly, these meals will last in the freezer for up to 3 months. We suggest writing the name of the recipe and the date on your freezer-safe plastic bag so that you remember when it was made.
While we haven’t tested that, we’re confident that you can freeze both soups and the enchilada casserole. Make sure that you let them cool completely before freezing.

It looks like some of the problems with the potatoes might be from the difference in the the potato directions on the printed recipes and the ones online here. Online, the directions say to blanch the potatoes, but that step is missing from the printed versions.
Made the chicken pot pie soup in my instant pot! 30 minutes on the meat/stew setting was perfect!!
Thank you so much for this amazing set of recipes, everyone of them was so delicious and I’m a fussy eater! And with the master shopping list it made it so easy to complete with my busy schedule.
Do you have any more sets like this with multiple recipes and a master shopping list? I would love that so much ☺️
YAY! So glad these recipes help with a busy schedule! Here are a few more that we have that are like this freezer meals post:

I made all of these freeze ahead meals before starting a new job and let me tell ya, it was AMAZING having these meals to just dump in the crockpot in the morning before work! My favorite was the chicken pot pie soup. We’ve made that one multiple times since!
Love hearing this!!
I’ll try to remember to update when I finish all the meals, but PLEASE do not cook the Honey Glazed Chicken that long!! 6 hours on low resulted in burnt sauce and chicken. We had a hard time choking down even a few bites over rice. Other similar recipes I looked up recommended around 3 or 4 hours on low. The sauce tasted delicious when I mixed it up, so I will definitely try that one again, just a lot less cooking time.
I did not have an issue with potatoes turning black as others mentioned. I used yukon gold, so I don’t know if that made a difference. The Pot Pie soup was a huge hit!
I love that there are no processed, boxed, chemical laden ingredients… Thank you for sharing content! My friend sushant gupta defsys is away at college. Since he is two hours away and I love to cook I will make some of these, buy a new crockpot and surprise him.
You really said that it was an option to just thaw it on the counter… look it up, not okay haha
she means in a bowl-sat out on the counter, silly.
Im looking forward to trying these! My hubby is supposed to cook and dinner is never ready when I get home, even though I text him my ETA, I have school work so I have to get started! This will def help dinner be on time!!! I have to just modify to low carb !
I made this per the directions with the exception of lemon zest, because I didn’t have a lemon. (I just used lemon juice.) It was delicious light and moist. I used boneless thighs and it was perfectly cooked at 4 hours on low.
I made the slow cooker chicken noodle soup and the slow cooker chicken enchilada casserole and froze them in our deep freezer about three weeks before giving birth. They have been SO GREAT to have on hand when we’re too tired to make anything with our newborn. Both are extremely flavorful after thawing and re-heating. Highly recommend.
Woo woo!! Glad you guys love these Hannah. Hope you and babe are doing well 😀 See you when COVID is over?!
