Holiday Protein Shake!

Seasons greetings! We’ve got a fun protein shake recipe for you today that will get you in the holiday spirit.

We combined 2 of our favorite flavors and some protein powder to get a delicious chocolate peppermint protein shake.

This protein shake is made with the base of frozen banana but tastes exactly like a peppermint chocolate shake. It’s ready in just 5 minutes and packs in 22g protein.

What You Need

  • Frozen banana: frozen banana is the base of this smoothie. Feel free to freeze them whole or sliced like this.
  • Almond milk: we used almond milk to thin the smoothie out. Any kind of milk works!
  • Chocolate protein pwder: really any kind of protein powder works for this recipe, but chocoalte protein powder helps make this nice and fudgy. Feel free to use whey, soy, or any kind you want. If you’re looking for protein powder recommendations, check out our blog post here.
  • Cocao powder: we added extra chocolate flavor with some unsweeteend cocoa powder.
  • Pinch of salt: salt helps bring out the chocolate peppermint flavor.
  • Peppermint extract: this is what gives you that yummy pepperminty flavor! A little goes a long way.

Can I store this for later?

If you are hoping to make this ahead, you definitely can. We suggest blending the smoothie by following the directions and storing it in the fridge overnight.

Then, when you’re ready to drink it, you can either blend it up with some ice or more frozen banana.

Itโ€™s awesome! This shake seems similar to a chocolate shake. The protein powder sounds good, but Iโ€™ve never used it before

I saw another commenter ask about the brand of protein powder to use for this. I reckon the best chocolate powder is ‘gold standard whey’ from optimum nutrition. I’ve tried a few others, but that one actually tastes like chocolate and makes this shake taste awesome.
