Holiday Protein Shake!

We combined 2 of our favorite flavors and some protein powder to get a delicious chocolate peppermint protein shake.
This protein shake is made with the base of frozen banana but tastes exactly like a peppermint chocolate shake. It’s ready in just 5 minutes and packs in 22g protein.
What You Need
- Frozen banana: frozen banana is the base of this smoothie. Feel free to freeze them whole or sliced like this.
- Almond milk: we used almond milk to thin the smoothie out. Any kind of milk works!
- Chocolate protein pwder: really any kind of protein powder works for this recipe, but chocoalte protein powder helps make this nice and fudgy. Feel free to use whey, soy, or any kind you want. If you’re looking for protein powder recommendations, check out our blog post here.
- Cocao powder: we added extra chocolate flavor with some unsweeteend cocoa powder.
- Pinch of salt: salt helps bring out the chocolate peppermint flavor.

- coconut flakes
- sprinkles
- mini chocolate chips
- chia seeds
Can I store this for later?
If you are hoping to make this ahead, you definitely can. We suggest blending the smoothie by following the directions and storing it in the fridge overnight.
Then, when you’re ready to drink it, you can either blend it up with some ice or more frozen banana.

Thanks, Rae
That’s so delicious. I have to try it tonight for my family. Thanks for sharing and love your site.
That looks and sounds lush! And bonus that it’s actually nutritious!!?
I don’t see the recipe either
Ah, this looks so delicious!
where is the recipe? I only see comments, no recipe. 🙁
This sounds amazing! I would absolutely love to get going in the morning with this protein drink – YUM!
Sounds delicious! What brand of protein powder do you use. There are so many kinds I just end up not buying any. I don’t do anything like marathon running but would like a powder to add to smoothies when drinking them as a meal.Sounds delicious! What brand of protein powder do you use. Loved this! I didn’t do any of the extras and it was still refreshing and satisfying after my workout.
HEALTHY BANANA SHAKE Look so yummy … wanna try it!!
Made the Choco-Mint smoothie, but used fresh mint (about ten big leaves) in place of the extract. Gave it a fabulous – and very minty – zing!
Super yummy – thanks.
Do I have to add the banana? I’m allergic to them. What could I substitute it with?
Unfortunately banana is the base of this smoothie. The only other thing i can think of is ice!
This looks absolutely amazing! Will this make me lose weight? X
Only if you just look at it !!
how much can you taste the banana in the chocolate peppermint smoothie/shake?
The chocolate and peppermint definitely have the most apparent flavor, but since it is a banana base you can tell it’s in it!
I am not a fan of protein shakes. I do not like smoothies at all. I think its a texture thing. Not real sure! I have Whey vanilla protein. Not sure what to do with it. Do you have any suggestions? This Dark Chocolate thin mint sounds really good. But I am afraid to spend the money on Chocolate protein and only use it once, like I have the vanilla.
