Applesauce Pancakes Tips
A few best practices will go a long way when it comes to these applesauce pancakes. Follow these for healthy pancake success ๐Unsweetened Applesauce is Your Friend!
You’ll want to make sure you buy unsweetened applesauce for these pancakes (or make your own!)! Not only does this ensure that your applesauce is only naturally sweetened (by apples!), but you’ll also be leaving behind the filler ingredients often found in sweetened apple sauces. Pro Tip: jazz this pancake recipe up even more, and use unsweetened cinnamon applesauce!Cook Low and Slow!
Cook temp is very important with these applesauce pancakes: COOK ON LOW. I cooked my first batch on medium/high, and the outsides burned without fully cooking in the middle. You want to let the pancakes fully cook on both sides, so they need a low cook temperature to avoid burning.Toppings Make All the Difference
These applesauce pancakes are oh so delicious on their own, but feel free to jazz them up with some fun toppings to make the ultimate healthy breakfast. We love:- Thinly sliced apples
- Nut butter
- Chopped nuts
- Maple syrup
- Ground cinnamon
- All of the above!
Can you Freeze Applesauce Pancakes?
Heck yes, you can! And this is a great way to meal prep breakfasts for you and your family. We recommend:- Make a double batch of applesauce pancakes by following the directions in the recipe card.
- Let the pancakes cool completely before freezing. Wrap the pancakes up in a plastic wrap or place in an air-tight bag like a Ziploc. Bag or wrap these up in whatever quantity you’ll want to thaw them in.
- Date each pancake with the date they were made, what type of pancake they are, and place them in the freezer. Pancakes will last up to 3 months in the freezer.
- When you are ready to eat your applesauce pancakes, unwrap the pancakes and place them in the toaster. When reheating, toast the pancakes until the center is thawed and the outside of the pancakes are golden brown and a little crispy.
- Enjoy!
How Long Do Applesauce Pancakes Last?
Applesauce pancakes will last 3-5 days in an air-tight container in the refrigerator, or 3 months in an air-tight container in the freezer.More Pancakes

Looks delicious!!
ohmygosh, NEED! I’m traveling to NYC tomorrow, so I will totally make these for the ride down! Do you think protein powder could be used in here? Maybe half a scoop of protein and like 1/3 cup almond flour? I’ll have to experiment tonight!
Good question. I don’t see why not! You could do half almond meal half protein powder!
These look beyond fabulous and cannot wait to make them! I LOVE bananas, but try to not eat them too often, because I tend to get bloated. They’re so good though before my long runs. Thanks for sharing! ๐
Weird!!!! I couldn’t love without nanners!
Ooooh! I love bananas but I don’t always have perfectly ripe ones on hand. I do, however, have some unsweetened organic applesauce that is begging to be used! Can’t wait to try these ๐
Boooooooom sauce!
I just can’t top the previous comment even if I tried! Need to meet her.
by that I mean two comments previous…
Y to the UM. Pancakes >>>> too cute ๐
WHAT THE HECK. It deleted the whole middle of my comment. POOP. And I’m too lazy to type it again ;P
Lazy girllllll
hi lee. your pan cakes look delicious.. After reading all of your recipes, I am going to have to follow them. My problem is that I never remember to write down the ingredients and when I get to the grocery store, I forget what I am looking for. But I promise I am going to do it.
With my stomach problems, I am thinking about a diaticion . I have taken so mluch medication and nothing but healthy foods seem to work. This is going to cost me dearly but with their help I might be able to discontinue medication and save that way. I amlooking forward to reading your book.
The families are coming in today. Can,t wait to see your mom and Clay Boy and Michell;e and Ben and your dad, etc. Take care.. Say hello to Kansas (is that where you are going?).
All my love. Grandma
ps, Do ;you know how to make my printing on my computer? It is sooooo tiny that I can hardly read the messages I am typing.
Congrats on the pancake success, girl! That’s always super exciting ๐ And yeah… I don’t get people who don’t like bananas either. I probably average 2 a day.
WHAT! 2 a day? What is this world coming to?
Me too. I don’t get people who do not like bananas. But guess what. You should have beautiful roses with all those banana peels. Don’t forget them. Put those peels over the roots, maybe even once a week: just one
banana at a time. Oh, they will love you for it. Just wait and see! Then, you can sit outside and enjoy your food viewing the roses!
I’m not a big banana eater myself except sliced up on my ceral, however, my younger brother is and always has been. As kids he would eat the entire bunch of bananas as soon as my mom brought them home after grocery shopping. In an attempt to keep him out the bananas, she put them on top of the refrigerator. The next morning she came downstairs to find my little brother-then 3 yo-on top of the refrigerator eating all the bananas. My brother is 6’3″ now and has no problem reaching the bananas…not that he ever did, anyway.
I am obsessed with pancakes, and I LOVE almond meal pancakes! They definitely need to be cooked low and slow,…so annoying when I just want to get face planting! Happy Friday from another FFF! ๐ Pinned!
Seriously, it was an epic fail. I am so NOT patient, so I turned it to medium/high. SCORCH.
Big props for getting the shout out for that recipe!!
These look delicious, and I’ve made a similar barch using a banana- I’ve found applesauce to be too liquid-like!
My stupid birthday cake was insulted with bits of banana in it. Fail.
See I would like that. BANANA ME TIMBERZ.
