Go GREEN with this Spinach Smoothie
Do you have a child in your life that won’t touch vegetables? Or were you one of those kids that sat at the table and tried to fold your green beans into a napkin so you wouldn’t have to eat your veggies? Have no fear, we have made a vegetable smoothie for all of you and it doesn’t taste one bit like vegetables.
We wanted to create a healthy breakfast smoothie that was also a great option for people looking for a vegan smoothie recipe or spinach smoothie recipe. There are so many options when it comes to getting your greens in. We used spinach for this green smoothie, but choose from any of the greens below- they will all do the trick!

Fruit +Vegetables
When it comes to smoothies, we try to use frozen fruit as often as we can. Fresh fruit works, too! However, if you are looking for a cold and creamy smoothie frozen fruit is the way to go. The less ice, the more flavor you have. The frozen fruit acts as the ice and the ‘meat’ of the smoothie! If we have extra bananas fruit that is on the edge, we like to slice up fresh fruit and freeze it for later. Check out our post on how to freeze bananas for a step by step process on freezing fruit! Until then, check out our go-to smoothie fruits and veggies below.
P.S. the secret to smoothie creaminess for this smoothie was definitely the avocado!

- Frozen Strawberries
- Frozen Bananas
- Frozen Tropical mix
- Frozen Avocado

When it comes to liquid in smoothies, it’s all about personal preference! We are big almond milk people, here on FFF. We also really love adding a little extra crunch with our favorite granola or raw walnuts! Here are some of our favorite smoothie add ins!

It was just ok. A little like pudding. I omitted the flax because it makes my smoothies too much like jello. I also added a sprinkle of cinnamon but what would really make this sing is some grated ginger or an apple.
Why!? Why would you put these things together? I made this as directed, tried it, and immediately wanted to kick a puppy. And I love puppies! This came out tasting a little chunky, and only slightly sweet with a huge overtone of VEG. I liked all these ingredients before. I thought, “Well, this seems weird to me. But maybe fit foodie know something I don’t. I’ll give it a try.” Alas, fit foodie, this was not a delightful skip through tastey smoothie land. A brief ceremony and appropriate mourning period were held before the traditional down-the-drain burial. Next time, fit foodie, let the cauliflower be grilled, the avocado adorn a taco, and the spinach fill a quiche. Good luck in the future, and blend responsibly.
This was absolutely delicious! I skipped the avocado because I didn’t have any on hand and added two stalks of celery!
No siempre es fรกcil decidir si lo haces tรบ mismo (bricolaje) o contratar a un contratista. Una de las claves para ahorrar dinero en el bricolaje es tener a mano una caja de herramientas bien surtida. It looks delicious!
Heeeeey!!
I recently bacame vegan and I’ve been looking for healthy and delicious smoothies since I really miss the lactose-based ones.
I’m definetly gonna try this recipe.
OMG it looks so good!!!
I used to include frozen cauliflower in my smoothie bowls! It tasted even better with some fruit in it like banana or powdered peanut butter and cacao powder for a more decadent dessert-like smoothie! This green smoothie formula is wonderful. I’ve been skimping out on smoothies because it’s been so cold, but I miss them!
Hi Lee!
I found your website about 6 months ago, and read it almost daily. I love your recipes [ the photography makes my mouth salivate! ]
Question: do you (or have you) ever use frozen spinach with your smoothies? It seems as though my spinach never lasts as long as I need to and was wondering if frozen spinach would be a good alternative..
Anyhow, I thought I’d see what your thoughts are ๐ enjoy your day!
Thanks so much for the comment, Susie ๐
