I’d like to introduce you to banana nice cream, a yummy healthy ice cream made in a high-speed blender or food processor with a frozen banana base and other add-ins!
We’ve been making nice cream for almost a decade and it really doesn’t get old. More recently, we’ve been enjoying it with protein powder to amp up the nutrition with the same great taste.
If you’re anything like us, you LOVE ice cream. If I had a choice between all desserts, I’d almost always choose ICE CREAM. We’re all about foods in moderation, but if you’re looking for a healthier ice cream option, banana nice cream is what you need to try!
Not only is nice cream flipping tasty, but you can flavor it into any classic ice cream flavor (chocolate, strawberry, etc.!). You can eat it smooth and creamy like soft serve or freeze it and scoop it out like traditional ice cream. It’s a close relative to Dole whip, but made with nanners instead.
What do you need to make nice cream?
The crazy thing about nice cream is that you really only need 1 ingredient – frozen bananas. We like to add a splash of non-dairy milk to speed up the whipping process, but if you wait a little bit for the bananas to melt a tad, you don’t even need milk!
How to Make Banana Nice Cream
- Simply add your frozen bananas into a high-speed food processor and process on high until smooth.
- Add a splash of milk into the food processor to speed things up. You should end up with a thick and creamy banana nice cream that’s dairy-free, healthy, and so yummy!
Ways to serve Banana Nice Cream
There are 2 main ways to serve nice cream and I’m not sure which I like better!
- Soft serve: this is the more classic way to serve nice cream — straight out of the food processor. It has the consistency of soft serve and is ready to go in 5 minutes.
- Ice cream: if you’re more of an ice cream consistency kind of person, transfer the nice cream into a bread pan and freeze it for around 1-2 hours. It will be just frozen enough to scoop it like ice cream.
Flavor Combinations for Banana Nice Cream
Make this vegan ice cream your own with different flavor combinations! Start with our basic banana nice cream recipe and follow our suggested add-ins/substitutions below!
- Mint Chip – add 1/4 teaspoon mint extract and 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips.
- Strawberries and Cream – substitute 1 cup frozen strawberries for 1 cup frozen bananas and use full-fat coconut milk instead of almond milk.
- Chai Spice – add 1/2 teaspoon homemade chai spice.
- Add a few spoonfuls of cottage cheese to make it a cheesecake variation!

Got Leftovers?
Store your leftover nice cream in an airtight container in the fridge. When you’re ready to serve again, let it sit out on the counter for a few minute and then scoop!

Banana Nice Cream Recipe
Ingredients
- 4 cups frozen banana slices, ~2 large bananas
- 2-4 tablespoons unsweetened almond milk, any kind of milk will work
Instructions
- Place frozen banana slices and 2 tablespoons unsweetened almond milk into a high-speed food processor or blender.
- Blend on high for 1 to 2 minutes stopping to scrape the sides every so often.
- If your blender is having a hard time blending the bananas, add more almond milk by the tablespoon.
- Once pureed together, your banana nice cream should be like a super thick smoothie or soft serve. Option to eat immediately or to transfer to a parchment-lined bread pan to freeze for later.
- Freeze it like ice cream: Freeze banana nice cream for 1 to 2 hours so that it hardens enough to scoop like ice cream, but isn't too hard that you can't scoop it.
Tips & Notes
- Option to double or triple this recipe.
- Storage: Store in an air-tight glass container (covered) in the freezer. Thaw for around 30 minutes before scooping and serving.

Just love it kindly try to some other combination also so that will be more amazing. good luck will be waiting for your next post
easy to throw together and anything with peanut butter is a winner for me. I like the bitter edge of the brewers yeast so that didn’t bother me. However, I found my mixture too crumbly to hold together after carefully measuring everything. I didn’t want to add more honey to bind as I found the honey flavor already strong and didn’t want the added sugar so I added about 1/2 c more peanut butter. That did the trick. I’ve had luck with other milk boosting recipes that feature brewers yeast and flax so I am confident these will be a good treat to help with production
Wow amazing love the banana ice cream can you try strawberry ice cream also that will be more amazing
Just read this recipe sent from a cousin. So here’s the scoop on the Chocolate Banana Nice Cream. (1) The mixing would not even begin in my Vitamix until I added lots more almond milk. Added 1 Tbsp at a time as directed, and needed quite a few. (2) Way too much cocoa for my taste in the recipe. Needed a bit of sweetening. Perhaps lessening the cocoa will rectify both issues. (3) The finished product definitely needs freezing. FINAL OPINION: once changes were made it was really quite good. I will no doubt make this again (with much less cocoa) and also try some other flavors. Thanks for sharing all your recipes. Enjoying your blog.
