Anything wrapped in bacon is truly better and that is so true for this bacon wrapped chicken breast! Lightly season the chicken breast and then wrap it in bacon and bake 400ºF for around 20-25 minutes.
Our #1 secret tip for crispy chicken wrapped in bacon? Make sure to bake it on a wire rack so that all sides can get nice and crispy.
This bacon wrapped chicken recipe is such a fun and scrumptious main meal. Eat it on its own next to grilled potatoes or top your favorite salad with it.
I love batch cooking this recipe because it’s high in protein (45g/serving!) and can be served a variety of different ways. It’s also ready in less than an hour.
You may love that thick oven-baked bacon, but it’s very important to use a medium/regular cut of bacon. We tested this bacon wrapped chicken with a variety of different types of bacon and found that If you use thick cut, it will not crisp up enough during the bake time and if you use a thinner cut piece of bacon, it will cook too fast!

What You Need for Chicken Wrapped in Bacon
- Chicken breast: if possible, we recommend using chicken that is all the same thickness so that they cook the same in the oven. If they’re not the same thickness, you can always use a meat tenderizer to even them out.
- Spices: we seasoned the chicken breast with a combination of garlic powder, Italian seasoning, brown sugar, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Bacon: make sure to use a medium-thick cut of bacon.
How long does it take to bake bacon wrapped chicken?
We recommend baking your chicken on a wire rack at 425ºF for around 20-25 minutes or until the internal temperature of the chicken is around 165ºF (FDA) and the bacon is crispy.
Variations
Seasonings: Feel free to use any premade seasoning mix you have on hand. I’ve made this with our chicken seasoning and it was delicious.
Give it a sweet twist: I absolutely love adding a little maple syrup to my bacon and drizzling a little bit on rightend at the ned is such a game changer — the sweet and salty is so delicious!
Can you make bacon wrapped chicken in the air fryer?
This recipe is so delicious made in the air fryer and comes out so crispy!
Air fry at 400ºF for around 7 minutes, flip, and cook for 3 more minutes or until the bacon is crispy and the internal temperature is 165ºF. Check out our air fryer chicken breast recipe.
Our #1 Tip for CRISPY Bacon Wrapped Chicken Breast
So, how do you get crispy bacon on the outside, but super tender chicken on the inside? Our #1 tip is a metal baking rack!
By placing the chicken breast on top of a rack, you allow for the bacon grease to drip off the chicken and onto the bottom of the baking sheet. If the chicken was sitting in the grease, the bacon would have a hard time crisping up.
So, make sure to first line your baking sheet with tin foil (for easy clean up) and then place a metal baking rack on top.
How long can you store cooked chicken wrapped in bacon in the fridge?
Let your chicken breasts cool completely. Then, transfer them into an airtight container and seal. Store in the refrigerator for up to 3-5 days.
To reheat: you can either reheat the chicken in the microwave on high for 90 seconds. Or, to get crispier bacon, we suggest reheating in a nonstick skillet or cast iron over medium heat.
Freezer Directions
let your bacon wrapped in chicken breast cool completely. Then, tightly wrap each one in a piece of tin foil. Freeze for up to 3 months.

This was wonderful. I have a huge stock of chicken breast and bacon in my freezer; and tonight I went in search of a recipe….this one is fabulous! I followed the recipe perfectly; sliced the breasts in half so I had 6 even pieces and seasoned them and wrapped in 2 strips of good bacon each. I did sprinkle maple sugar and extra fine salt as a finish before the bake. These atop a rice pilaf from TJ and some corn on the cob made an excellent meal!!
That sounds so delish, Lisa!
I’m a teen wife(19) who’s new to cooking and this recipe was a life saver! The husband and I both really loved the outcome, thank you so much for posting it! I added a bit of cheese and then wrapped the chicken in the bacon ๐๐ป
I tried this recipe because I had a lot of thick cut bacon and chicken breast ready to be cooked. Then I read not to use the thick cut bacon. Oh well. I first precooked, slightly not completely, to try to eliminate the issue mentioned in the recipe. I think it came out great. I used a little less sugar, like half, I didnโt want the sweet taste. I used more garlic, I like garlic. My family loved it and it was easy and fast. Like I saw in other pictures, I out it directly on the clean oven rack with a pan underneath. My teenage children and spouse liked the chicken too. The seasoning is really good. I will add this to our household rotation. Thanks for a good recipe.
Wahoo! So happy to hear you and the fam loved this recipe ๐

Bacon-wrapped chicken FTW!
Easy to make! Family loved it. I cheated and used Mrs. Dash’s Chicken Seasoning! Will definitely make it again! I used the broil settingfor about 2 minutes to get my bacon very crispy
Done!
Turned out great! Next time I will try my homemade BBQ rub and add some Cheddar Cheese.
I made these the other night, just delicious. Simple, easy to make, and definitely a welcome change of pace from boring old baked chicken breasts! I will use the seasoning mix even if I’m not using bacon sometime!
Yours looks amazing!
