Bring on all of the chai-flavored recipes this fall! Whether you are a spicy chai tea person, a sweet chai person, or a dirty chai tea latte kind of human, this homemade chai spice mix is delicious and totally customizable.

Add these chai spices to your cabinet for easy access to chai spices all year round. You can add this mix to a protein, overnight oats, or your favorite sweet snack for a chai spice twist!

What is in chai spice?

How much chai spice should I use in chai tea?

Per 1 cup of water/milk, we recommend using 1 teaspoon of chai spices + 1 black tea bag to make chai tea. Check out our chai tea latte recipe.

What does this chai spice mix taste like?

This chai spice mix is on the spicier side. We like our chai with a bite rather than a sweet spice mix so we added a little extra ground ginger. If you love yourself a sweet chai, try taking out some ginger and adding more cinnamon or even a teaspoon of coconut sugar or brown sugar. Have no shame either way. The taste buds want, what the taste buds want. DO YOU FEEL ME?

We love mixing up our own chai spices so that we have chai spice ready in the pantry whenever we’re craving a chai tea latte or one of our favorite Fit Foodie Finds chai recipes. Yes, we have a bunch!  Check them out.

Iโ€™m looking to flavor Kombucha any ideas on how much you would add to say a 16oz second fermentation or for flavoring tea?

Hi! I used this chai spice in cookies, but I was wondering if you have a recipe for a chai latte or chai tea.

On the very top picture you have a spice labeled nutmeg. Itโ€™s not on the recipe though. Just wondering if you left it out accidentally?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allspice Allspice is a plant not a spice blend. Allspice and nutmeg are from different plants.

Thanks for a chai spice without sugar! Now I can add it or leave it out, depending on my own preference!

Made this today but added 1/2 tsp fennel seeds to the mix. Put it in my almond milk hot chocolate and added a bit of vanilla essence at the end, delicious!! Thanks for such a great recipe! I love spice blends!!!

I just made this Chai mix and love it! I upped the cardamom in mine as that’s my favourite flavour. I’ve made a hot chocolate with it and it’s absolutely gorgeous! I hope to find many more uses for it now!

I made this recipe and found the spices to float around my cup and had a gritty texture, did I do something wrong? Other than that, taste was fantastic!

Try running the blend through a coffee bean grinder or spice grinder for a finer texture. I find it helps. I can even grind up green tea leaves for a matcha powder consistency. I am making this chai right now, I’m in love with the flavour but the coffee shops add too much junk to it so I’ve haven’t had in the longest time. ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you for this beautifully simple find! Think chai spiced New York style cheese cake…using your blend.
