Looks awsome! I’m making it dairy free what could I use in place of Greek yogurt
Hi Heather, you could use any plain dairy free yogurt! I would start with less and add til you get the texture you’re looking for since many dairy free yogurts are more runny than greek yogurt. Hope this helps!
I used this wonderful recipe as a base to make buffalo chicken *salad* with one major adjustment: I didn’t heat anything. I also added 4 celery stalks (sliced thin on the bias) and all the leaves from one head of celery, salt & pepper, a drizzle of grapeseed oil, and then I split the mixture up and added blue cheese to one half and dried dill and onion salt to the other half. The addition of honey to the Frank’s RedHot REALLLLY makes this magical!!!
so easy, so yum! I used franks red hot “wing sauce” and chobani nonfat plain greek yogurt….put 1lb of chicken into my little crock pot with about 1/2 cup water, turned out great!!
DE.LISHHHH!
Great recipe! Served as a dip- put mixture into a dish, topped with cashew cream and an extra drizzle of buffalo sauce, baked until hot, served with baked tortilla chips. Really good!
Am I able to use a hot sauce “powder” instead of liquid hot sauce?
Hi Patty! I’ve never actually heard of hot sauce powder and I’m not sure how it would work!
When you cook the chicken in the slow cooker literally just put the chicken in and that’s it, no water or anything?
It creates its own moisture! But, you can add a few tablespoons of water if you’re skeptical!
I like simple and tasty. This is it. Perfect to just eat by itself. Next time around i may add just a touch more Frank’s, wasnt quite spicy enough for me. Really glad i found this recipe, adding it to my meal plan.
How would I adjust the cooking time if I’m using boneless, skinless, chicken thighs?
I would keep the same cook time!
I wanted to love it, but the overall bitter taste from the yogurt just was not my favorite. It is a option for a healthy snack for the next few days that is relatively inexpensive.. but I’m just not excited about it. Overall, a bit of a letdown.. but I will try adding some spices, like garlic and celery as mentioned in a earlier comment, to make more enjoyable.
I’d recommend trying different brands of yogurt too, they tend to vary in that bitter/tart taste. The flavor of full-fat greek yogurt also tends to be more palatable.
I just ate this for the third night in a row. I. Am. Obsessed. I eat relatively clean, and this is perfect for just that. Tasty, versatile, and you can eat it just by itself. I’m sending this to everyone I know, it’s that good!
Fantastic! This recipe was not just super easy but super delicious! I used fage 0% yogurt and to make the dish appear more cheesy put a heaping soup of 1/2 cup and added the hot sauce to make it just the right amount of hotness. The additional yogurt added even more protein to the dish which was “icing on the cake” for this recipe!
This was so good AND easy! I used left over (cold) rotisserie chicken. After adding the buffalo sauce a little at a time, I felt there was something missing so I added a bit of garlic powder to it to suit my preggo taste.
Try it with a tortilla wrap with lettuce and shredded carrot 🙂
Great idea with the leftover rotisserie chicken!
I added celery seeds and garlic powder just to give it extra flavor and served in lettuce cups
Do you add any liquid to the crockpot or just out the chicken and let it cook??
Very spicy even for my husband who lives for heat. I recommend adding the sauce one tablespoon at a time.
I saw this question posted earlier, but there was no response. Do you need to put liquid in the slow cooker with the chicken? I’m concerned it will be dry. Also, has anyone on here made this? I see lots of comments, but only one person who made it. Thanks so much in advance,
Laura
How long does this last in the fridge?
I would say up to 4 or 5 days!
Hello! Do you have to put any liquid in the slow cooker with the chicken?
I’ve added some roasted red pepper hummus to this this instead of the yogurt and it is so good- adds the creamy!
What Greek yogurt brand did you use? How many calories for the amount you used for this recipe? I really need to know… thank you
Can I cook the chicken in the oven if I don’t have a crock pot? Any recommendations of time/temp?
Yes! I would bake it at 375 for 20-25 minutes. Let cool for 5 minutes, then shred!
