The 50 Best Oatmeal Recipes on the Planet

Guess what Thursday calls for?

Uhhhhhhh, a ginormous oatmeal round-up and some GIRL TALK.

I’ve been meaning to share some personal “news” with you for a couple of months now and I guess there’s no better day to do it than today. I’m quitting the blog.

Think oatmeal is boring? Think again! Get inspired by one of these delicious oatmeal recipes. You've got 50 options, including some savory ones!

Psych.

I’m single.

While I know that I don’t owe it to anyone to share my personal life on FFF, I feel like I owe it to myself to share it with you. FFF is suppose to be a place to inspire you to be the best version of yourself. The best version of YOU or ME doesn’t come with just the good. It takes difficult times in life to really make you who you are and this breakup is one of them. After 3.5 years, Blake and I parted ways in May and it wasn’t an easy thing for either of us to do. Sometimes when you’re running a thousand miles and hour and flying by the seat of your pants, you let that little word called relationship slip away. Sometimes two people who were once so in love can grow in different directions and not even realize they’re drifting until life happens. I don’t and will never regret a single moment from our relationship because I truly believe that every single person comes into your life for a reason, for better or for worse.

I remember when we had just broken up, I felt like I was dying inside and that nothing would ever make me sparkle again. My amazing friends and family kept repeating one thing to me- TIMEEEEE. My response at the time was- FUCK YOU TIME IS BULLSHIT. Seriously though, they were right. Time is my friend and I am happy. While I spared you a lot of details, I wanted to let you know that I am doing great. Heartbreak isn’t easy. It sucks, but life is good. I am loving every single second of my new and singular life. I’ve got my own apartment and no one to worry about but my plants (which I kill on a weekly basis). I’m drinking boat loads of coffee, exploring Minnesota’s beautiful state parks, going to bed early, taking naps, laughing, and having a LOT of girl time.

Before we shift the mood to OATMEAL…Just remember, social media can make any person’s life see admirable and PERFECT and I know that I am guilty of abusing it in that way.

PS: It’s National Oatmeal Day and I didn’t even know it. #winningatlife

Wow, eventhough I knew it was impossible, I had a little heart attack when I read that “you’re quitting your blog”. I think a person needs to be really brave to present it’s heart on a silver plater (as we say it). It’s so nice to hear you’re ‘healing’ and enjoying life.

  2. says

I’m so glad you posted this round-up because I’m trying to incorporate oatmeal more into my mornings but I’m always stumped what to do with them. They’re a blank slate but I never think outside the box! Thank you for this!! :) ALSO – I’m SOOO glad you’re healing and took the time to do so. I remember talking to you in the beginning and I knew you would be ok with time and enjoying life. You’re so independent and you’re a lot of fun! You deserve it all and I’m so happy for you that you’re happy :) xoxo

  3. says

Breakups suck big cohones, but your friends and family were totally right! TIME heals everything, although when you’re going through something like that each day seems like freaking eternity! Good news is you freaking rock and you’ll be just fine! This is totally YOUR time now! Time for you to focus on you! :) P.S. Awesome recipe round-up, as per usual :)

  4. says

Oy โ€“ having also recently gone through a breakup (and then having to figure out how/if to share it on the blog), I feel ya! Glad you’re making the best of it, and healing up!

Also: SO MANY DELICIOUS OATMEALS! Thanks for the great roundup! xo

  5. Laura says

All the power to ya! Breakups are HARD AF. After going through my latest break up, I hated hearing all you need is time, but like you said it really is all that works! This is definitely the time to DO YOU,

Oh and i LOVE oatmeal and eat overnight oats every morning (seriously, its been 3 years and still going strong) so I’m pumped to make ALL of these!

  6. says

After eating oats almost every morning for 5 years straight I’ve had to take a breather for the past year or so, but just this week I’ve started up again. Love all these ideas!

And great job opening up about the breakup – I know that can’t be easy to share. So glad you’re doing well and loving life!

  7. Connie says

So so glad u r not quitting the blog!, my favorite!, keep up the great posts and we r all here for u!, Lucky girl, wish I had the single lifestyle. Haha. Married 35 years and he is totally , totally opposite!

  8. says

UMM, you know I also nearly had a panic attack when I read your little joke about quitting the blog! LOL, Lee! I was like HOLY CRAP I’m going to need to save a million recipes, like stat (and then there’s also this little Q&A thing I’ll need to redo probably…HA! Whew!). Anyway…You’re clearly a very strong gal and I’m so happy you are feeling like you’re on the other side. Nowhere to go but up for you superstar! Grateful we connected! And also Yes to all these oatmeal recipes!!! XX Katie

  9. Stacey says

Just wanted to say that I know exactly what you went through – I broke up with my college boyfriend after 3.5 years, and now, 3 years later, I am so so happy! (Not saying it took 3 years to get here – just wanted you to know that it does get better, and that things do happen for a reason. Also, most of the time, our gut instinct is right.) When you meet the RIGHT one, you’ll know it right away. :)

Love the blog, and keep it up! Everything will be fine.

  10. says

Thanks for sharing Lee. I’m sorry you’ve been going through a rough patch but happy to hear things are getting better. I know it’s cliche but everyone is right when they say that time heals. I split with my college boyfriend of 3 years when I first moved to LA and it was very hard. Time + new love was the recipe for repairing my broken heart :)

PS – I want to make EVERY SINGLE ONE of these oatmeal bowls!!

  11. says

“FUCK YOU TIME IS BULLSHIT” is quite possibly the best thing you’ve ever written on the blog. <3 <3 But in all seriousness, glad to hear you are doing well. :) (and these pictures alone have turned me into an oatmeal lover)

  12. says

    I’m so sorry to hear about your breakup. But. I believe everything – good and bad – shapes us, and makes us even better. You’re a strong, beautiful woman – and I’m confident that one day you’ll even be thankful for what you’re going through right now. Take care. {and thanks for including my buttery baked oatmeal recipe}

  13. says

Aw Lee, just got around to read this post of yours. *virtual hugs* Sorry to hear you guys broke up but so good to hear you are feeling good and happy and enjoying life!

Like you I believe that everything happens for a reason and that our experiences shape us. Those 3,5 years together with Balke contributed to making who you are today. Which is an awesome Girl, so rock on! (and keep providing us with many more delicious oatmeal recipes, one can’t have too many oatmeal recipes ๐Ÿ˜‰ *hugs and kisses*

Out of sanity-shattering boredom, I decided to go through all of these recipes and pin the ones that looked interesting so they were easier to access. So far I found this one (CLEAN EATING SLOW COOKER OVERNIGHT OATMEAL BY THE GRACIOUS PANTRY) links to the wrong recipe (the buttery stuff), from a different blog.
