Shredded Brussel Sprout Slaw
We love using bagged slaw mixes for salads like this (our fave is the Trader Joe’s Brussels Sprout Slaw Mix), but feel free to prepare your own slaw if you prefer. The mix we used contains brussels sprouts, kale, broccoli slaw and cabbage, but feel free to get creative with whatever veggies you have on hand or which ever brussels sprout slaw mix your grocery store has.How to Make Detox Salad Dressing

- Fresh grated ginger
- Fresh chopped parsley
- Fresh chopped basil
- Lemon juice
- Apple cider vinegar
- Honey
- Ground turmeric
- Salt and cayenne to taste (with a little more cayenne if you like a little kick!)

I would have NEVER thought to put these things together!
😀 😀 So nummy!
spell check baby!
I like my greens raw and massaged in oil 🙂
Oh yes you do!
If you add a little sea salt to the kale and put it in a bowl, then massage it with your hands, it softens the kale right up to make it more edible and digestible for salads. Just a little secret I learned in nutrition school 🙂
Such a good tip. Totally doing this next time. 😀 😀
This salad looks amazing! I wonder if this would be overboard if you had it with a blueberry salad dressing!? ha-ha probably, and as a smoothie. Now that sounds amazing!
I actually really enjoy cooking with greens like kale! I make a Kale- Almond based pesto and it is amazing. Last night I made it a pizza with Asparagus and cherry tomatoes, and tomorrow I am going to put it on some pasta. Most recipes are the same but I found my in Runners World Cookbook. 🙂
Not overboard at all! I SAY GO FOR IT! O0oo kale pesto…ge ge genius! I need to come to your house for lunch. yes?
Errrmyygerrrddd this is like healthy heaven in a bowl! I’ve been on such a blube kick so this is totes making its way into my life soon.
HAHAHAHA. I love your lingo. I think we should be besties meow.
I think these are the best photos you’ve ever taken. You should be SUPER proud!
I always use a nut oil (like hazelnut or walnut), a bit of mustard, olive oil, garlic and lemon in my dressing. So good!
If we were neighbors. It would be lethal. THAT SOUNDS LIKE THE BEST DRESSING EVER. Totally trying that next time. 😀
do you massage the kale or anything? sometimes it’s too bitter for me to eat just in a salad!
That is a good question. I actually did massage the kale as I mixed the vinaigrette into the salad. I will add that! You are right, it does loosen up the kale a bit and bring out some sweetness! Thanks for catching that LIV!
Such beautiful photographs!
Why thank you 😀 I’d have to say that I think these make the top of my list as favorite dish photographed!
Mmmmm, looks tasty! You could try massaging the kale after chopping it up. Knead it in a bowl like you would dough, until it feels softer. It’ll make the kale a little sweeter and less tough, too 🙂 Kale is awesome!
I actually did do that! But I didn’t know it was a thing. When I added the vinaigrette into the salad I did massage it into the kale. I did it subconsciously. Totally adding this into the method of the recipe. #kalenewbie
YUM! All of my favorite things in one place! I like to make it easy though and buy the chopped up kale in the bag from Trader Joes. 😉
Lazyyyyyy and I love it. I didn’t know that existed. TJ’s you are my hero.
Trip to Trader Joes now on my agenda!
This is beautiful! I like my greens COOKED 🙂
I have yet to eat kale in a salad. I really need to get on that though because it does look awfully tasty and it seems easy to put together!
I haven’t made my own kale salad yet (but this recipe may change things up) … but I frequently buy a superfood salad at Publix here in Florida that is to die for. As long as the kale is deboned … it can be offputting to end up with a stalk in your mouth! Good luck!!
I totally agree with you! There’s nothing worse than a kale stalk 😀
Yum! I have been loving on kale salads of late – mixing in roasted veggies, grapefruit, nuts, etc. I’ll have to try yours next!
Beautiful salad- I’m a sucker for blueberries! The dressing is easily veganized too! As for greens, I’ll take them any way shape or form!
Good for you! I need to start trying to eat more cooked greens (gulp)
The salad looks yummy, love raw kale whit quinua and I want to surprise my friend whit this salad 🙂 my question is what is EVOO? sorry my ignorance thanks for your help
HAHA. It stands for Extra Virgin Olive Oil. I should specify that 🙂
